John Thomas 'Johnny' Saunders, a 57-year-old man from Church Road, Virginia, passed away on October 9, 2022. Known as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, he was a cherished member of his community. He is remembered for his love of the outdoors, often found doing yardwork, riding his four-wheeler, or grilling. His life, however, came to a sudden and violent end, a tragedy that also involved the death of the family's pets.
In the wake of his death, law enforcement officials
arrested his son, 30-year-old Dylan Thomas Saunders. He was taken into custody and faced serious charges in connection with the death of his father. The charges brought against him included second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. The incident left the family and the local community in a state of shock and grief.
John Saunders was survived by his wife of 36 years, Sheri Saunders, as well as his daughters, Amanda Williams and Monica McCann, and his son, Dylan Saunders. He also left behind four grandchildren: Kyleigh, Ava, Waylon, and Robert, Jr. His extended family, including his brother, cousins, a nephew, and a close family friend, also mourned his passing, alongside his colleagues from Truck Service of Virginia where he was a valued member of their work family.
