In the quiet community of Tabernacle, New Jersey, a devastating event unfolded inside a home on Holly Park Drive. On November 20, 2014, eight-year-old Nadia Harriman, a female student at Tabernacle Elementary School, was found deceased. She loved her cats, playing outside, and dressing up in fancy clothes. The young girl was a victim of a violent act that also claimed the life of her older brother.
The circumstances of Nadia's death were tragic and deeply unsettling for the community. Investigators reported that Nadia and her 14-year-old brother, Nicholas, were fatally shot by their mother, 44-year-old Jeaninne LePage. The incident occurred in the mother's bedroom, where LePage also shot her 11-year-old son, Alexander, before turning the gun on herself. To muffle the sounds of the gunshots from five other family members in the home, a pillow was used.
Nadia and Nicholas were pronounced dead at the scene.
The sole suspect in the deaths of Nadia and her brother was their mother, Jeaninne LePage. No charges were filed against her as she succumbed to her self-inflicted injuries three days after the shooting. Her surviving son, Alexander, also passed away from his injuries nearly a week after the incident. Authorities have not determined a motive for the tragic event, leaving a community to mourn and wonder what led to the loss of three young lives. A funeral Mass for Nadia and her brothers was held on December 6, 2014, at the Church of the Holy Eucharist.
