On Christmas Day in 2015, eight-year-old Nellie Stasko was found dead in her Edgewater, New Jersey, apartment, the victim of a shocking act of violence that also claimed the life of her mother. The young girl, who had just celebrated her birthday days earlier, was discovered in her bed, having been shot in the back of the head as she slept. Her mother, Melissa Stasko, 49, was found in a similar tragic state in the family's luxury high-rise apartment.
