Genevieve Mellas, aged 32, was found deceased on October 9, 2008, near a lagoon in Marquette Park, Chicago. She had been strangled, and her body was discovered in a state that indicated the violent nature of her death. Despite some physical evidence, including fingerprints on a belt used during the crime, and the presence of DNA evidence, no suspects have been charged in connection with her homicide.
