In the quiet community of Cliffwood Beach in Old Bridge, New Jersey, the holiday season of 2017 was shattered by a tragic event that unfolded on Christmas Eve. Forty-seven-year-old Cindy Marcinczyk was found deceased in her home in what authorities would later describe as a murder-suicide. A female of white/Caucasian descent, her life was cut short in an act of violence that also claimed the life of her husband and one of their dogs.
On the evening of December 24th, at approximately 9 p.m., Old Bridge police were called to the couple's residence. Upon arrival, they discovered a grim scene. Both Cindy Marcinczyk and her 55-year-old husband, Thomas Vuocolo, were found with fatal gunshot wounds.
The investigation, led by the Middlesex County Prosecutor's Office, quickly determined that the incident was contained to the home and that there was no further threat to the public.
The investigation concluded that Thomas Vuocolo shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself. The motive behind the tragic decision was not publicly detailed, leaving a community to grapple with the sudden and violent loss. One of the couple's dogs was also found shot to death, while a second dog sustained a gunshot wound but survived and was taken to a local animal hospital for recovery. Autopsies confirmed the cause of death for both Marcinczyk and Vuocolo as gunshot wounds, solidifying the murder-suicide conclusion. As a result, no arrests were made, and the case was closed with Vuocolo identified as the sole suspect.
