Joachim Matthews, who served as the Sheriff of Macomb County, Michigan, tragically lost his life on December 2, 1910. Sheriff Matthews was attempting to serve a warrant for animal cruelty at a residence in Harrison Township when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred when a 14-year-old boy, acting on his mother's orders, fired a rifle through the door as Sheriff Matthews knocked.
