The homicide of Sharon Anderson, which took place on June 27, 1994, was part of a brutal triple murder at Casimir "Butch Casey" Sucharski's home in Miramar, Florida. Sharon Anderson, aged 46, was found dead along with her friends Marie Rogers and Butch Casey. The three victims had gone to Casey's Nickelodeon, a bar owned by Sucharski, on the night before, after which they proceeded to his home for an afterparty. It was at this residence that all three were gruesomely murdered. The police found the bodies in the living room, surrounded by blood splatters and trashed furniture, indicating a chaotic and violent scene. Autopsy reports confirmed that all three victims were beaten and then shot to death, and evidence of forced entry pointed towards an armed home invasion.
The investigation into the murders initially faced significant challenges, as there were no witnesses who could identify the attackers. However, a breakthrough came when the police discovered a hidden CCTV camera that had captured the entire incident. The footage showed the two women and Sucharski being attacked by two masked intruders. During the struggle, one of the attackers briefly revealed his face, which was a crucial clue for the authorities. The footage eventually led to the arrest of Pablo Ibar and Seth Penalver. Both men were initially found guilty and sentenced to death, but over the years, appeals and retrials brought mixed outcomes. Seth Penalver was acquitted in 2012 due to a lack of sufficient evidence, while Pablo Ibar, after a retrial, was sentenced to life in prison without parole in 2019.
During Ibar's trial, a key piece of evidence involved DNA analysis. Investigators found a torn shirt at the crime scene, which was later linked to Ibar through advanced forensic techniques. The TrueAllele DNA system showed that the DNA on the shirt was overwhelmingly likely to be Ibar’s, reinforcing the case against him. Although the jury chose not to reinstate the death penalty in his final sentencing, Ibar was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, and one count of armed burglary, leading to his current life sentence.
