Antonio Jackson was a 26-year-old man from Lambert, Mississippi, whose ordinary Saturday in early April 2015 ended in tragedy in the neighboring town of Marks. Marks, a small Delta community and the seat of Quitman County, is better known for its civil-rights history and ties to Martin Luther King Jr.’s Poor People’s Campaign than for headline-making violence, yet on that afternoon the Family Dollar store on Martin Luther King Drive suddenly became the focus of a homicide investigation.
