In the quiet community of Pittsboro, Mississippi, the life of 59-year-old Sherri Turner Calderon came to a tragic and violent end in February 2019. Her body, along with that of 38-year-old Kendrick Armstrong, both residents of nearby Bruce, was discovered submerged in a creek approximately 250 yards behind a local residence. An investigation by the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department revealed that both individuals had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The grim discovery was made after
Armstrong was reported missing, leading investigators to the Pittsboro home. There, they encountered the homeowner, 28-year-old Christopher Keel, and his 28-year-old girlfriend, Trinity Hastings. Following questioning, both were taken into custody in connection with the double homicide. The investigation suggested that Keel was the gunman in the slayings.
Authorities subsequently charged Christopher Keel with capital murder in the deaths of Calderon and Armstrong. Trinity Hastings faced charges as an accessory after the fact to murder. In addition to the homicide-related charges, both Keel and Hastings were also accused of possessing methamphetamine.
Following their arrests, Keel and Hastings were held in the Calhoun County jail. While the initial reports detailed the charges brought against the duo, a motive for the double homicide was not publicly released by law enforcement officials. The case then moved into the judicial system to address the serious allegations against the two individuals.
