In the quiet community of Pelahatchie, Mississippi, the life of 79-year-old Linnie Maude Everett came to a tragic end on March 30, 2019. On that day, she was fatally shot by her husband, Thomas G. 'Gary' Everett, in what authorities determined to be a murder-suicide. The incident unfolded at their residence on J. Burnham Road in Scott County.
Linnie, who was reportedly bedridden due to a chronic illness, was discovered after her husband turned the gun on himself following the shooting.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but Linnie could not be saved. Her husband, Gary, aged 81, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The nature of the incident meant that with the perpetrator deceased, the case was considered closed. Joint funeral services were held for the couple on April 5, 2019, at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton, with their burial at Cross Roads Baptist Cemetery.
