In the late hours of a Sunday in Sardis, Mississippi, a family dispute turned fatal, leaving a mother dead and her daughter facing a murder charge. Pearlie Hamilton, a 46-year-old woman, was shot and killed on November 24, 2019. The tragic incident unfolded outside her home on Fudge Town Rd., where an argument with her daughter escalated to a point of no return.
Responding to a domestic violence call, Panola County Sheriff's deputies arrived at the residence to find Pearlie Hamilton suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite any efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries. The Panola County Coroner later confirmed that a gunshot wound was the cause of her death. Family members and neighbors indicated that there was a history of arguments between the mother and daughter, and law enforcement had been called to the home on previous occasions.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, investigators identified Pearlie Hamilton’s 23-year-old daughter, Labraysha Nicole Hamilton, as the suspect. She was promptly arrested and taken into custody at the Panola County Jail. The day after the fatal shooting, Labraysha Nicole Hamilton was formally charged with the murder of her mother.
Following her arrest, Labraysha Hamilton made her initial appearance before a judge. Her bond was set at $500,000, and her case was bound over to a grand jury for consideration of an indictment. The legal proceedings were set in motion to address the violent end to a mother-daughter relationship that had reportedly been fraught with conflict.
