On a Sunday in Bentonia, Mississippi, the life of 34-year-old Joshua Rayburn was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On September 19, 2021, Rayburn was shot in the chest in what investigators believe was a drive-by shooting on Old Highway 49. He was discovered deceased on the front porch of a residence that tragically, and perhaps coincidentally, belonged to the mother of the man who would be accused of his murder.
