In the spring of 1969, a shadow fell over the community of Elk City, Oklahoma. On April 29th, the life of Roy Howlingwater, a 27-year-old Cheyenne preacher, was tragically cut short. He was a man of faith and community, and his sudden and violent death left a void in the hearts of those who knew him. The cause of his untimely passing was determined to be gun violence, a stark and brutal end to a life dedicated to peace and spiritual guidance.
