On May 29, 1992, 22-year-old Lisa Renee Kregear, a white female, vanished without a trace along with her sister-in-law, Wendy Camp, and Wendy's 6-year-old daughter, Cynthia Britto. Their disappearance from Chandler, Oklahoma, would remain a painful mystery for their families for over two decades. The trio was last known to be with Wendy's ex-mother-in-law, Beverly Noe, who had offered to drive them to see Wendy's son, Jonathan, who was in the custody of his father, Chad Noe.
The story
told by Beverly Noe was that an argument had ensued, and she had dropped the three off at a Walmart. However, there were no witnesses or surveillance footage to corroborate this account. For 21 years, the families of Lisa, Wendy, and Cynthia were left with agonizing uncertainty. The break in the case finally came in April 2013, when Beverly's brother, Grover Prewitt, came forward with a shocking revelation. He told police he believed the bodies of the three missing females were buried on his former property in Pawnee County in a hole he had dug for a septic tank.
Investigators unearthed the remains of Lisa, Wendy, and Cynthia, confirming the families' worst fears. The medical examiner determined that Lisa Renee Kregear had died from gunshot wounds and had also suffered a broken wrist at or near the time of her death. Found with the remains were personal belongings, a. 357-caliber revolver, and a knife.
The investigation pointed to a bitter custody battle over Wendy and Chad Noe's son as the motive for the triple homicide. Authorities alleged that Beverly Noe, and possibly her mother Ida, murdered Wendy to gain full control of Jonathan, with Lisa and young Cynthia being tragic witnesses who were also killed. Her brother, Grover Prewitt, was charged with being an accessory after the fact for his role in burying the bodies.
