In the winter of 2018, the life of 21-year-old Jesse Faber, a White/Caucasian male from Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, was tragically cut short. On the night of January 15th, Faber was at a gathering in the town of Medina when a confrontation erupted. This altercation at the home of Daniel Lieske in Marshall would be his last. Initially reported as a missing person, the search for Faber took a grim turn when investigators discovered evidence of foul play at the residence where he was last seen.
The investigation quickly led authorities to a storage unit in Rio, about 30 miles from Marshall. It was there, in the cold confines of the locker, that Jesse Faber's body was discovered. He had been shot multiple times. The search for a missing person had tragically become a homicide investigation, sending shockwaves through the small Wisconsin community.
The renter of the storage unit, 58-year-old Daniel Lieske, was promptly arrested and faced tentative charges of first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse. As the investigation continued, a second arrest was made. Lieske's fiancée, 51-year-old Miechelle Goss, was taken into custody and charged with hiding a corpse, accused of assisting Lieske in the cover-up of the murder.
During the trial, the prosecution revealed that Faber had been shot seven times, with five of the bullets entering his back. The defense for Daniel Lieske claimed he acted in self-defense, alleging that Faber had attacked him in a bathroom following a dispute. However, a jury found Lieske guilty of first-degree homicide. He was also convicted of hiding a corpse. For his crimes, Daniel Lieske was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years. Miechelle Goss received a sentence of ten months in jail for her role in concealing the crime.
