On a quiet Sunday, September 12, 2021, the community of Wheeler, Wisconsin, was disturbed by a grim discovery. A farmer stumbled upon an abandoned black SUV partially concealed in a cornfield off a rural road. Inside the vehicle were the bodies of four individuals, one of whom was later identified as 35-year-old Loyace Fore III, a Black/African American male. The other victims were identified as Matthew Isiah Pettus, 26, Jasmine Christine Sturm, 30, and Nitosha Lee Flug-Presley, 30.
All four were from the St. Paul and Stillwater areas of Minnesota.
Initial investigations by the Dunn County Sheriff's Office were shrouded in mystery. Preliminary autopsy results confirmed that all four individuals had died from gunshot wounds, leading to a homicide investigation. Authorities believed the SUV had been intentionally driven into the cornfield. As investigators delved deeper into the case, evidence began to point away from the quiet Wisconsin town. It was determined that the murders had not taken place where the bodies were found.
The focus of the investigation soon shifted to St. Paul, Minnesota, where it is believed the four victims were killed. The St. Paul Police Department took the lead on the case. It was reported that the four victims had been at a bar in St. Paul on the night of September 11th and were seen leaving with an individual who was not part of their group. In the days that followed the discovery, authorities identified two suspects in connection with the quadruple homicide. One suspect, Darren McWright, also known as Darren Osborne, was arrested. A second suspect, Antoine D. Suggs, turned himself in to authorities in Arizona and was awaiting extradition to Minnesota to face charges related to the deaths.
