On that fateful Friday, emergency services responded to a fire at an apartment complex on Mansfield Court in Hartland. Inside one of the units, a devastating scene was discovered. Sofina, along with her 14-year-old sister Natalie Kleemeier, their mother Jessica McKisick, their two 3-year-old twin half-brothers, and their stepfather Connor McKisick, were all found deceased. The initial belief that the fire was the cause of their deaths was soon overshadowed by a more grim reality.
Investigators determined that all six individuals had died from single gunshot wounds. The investigation concluded that Connor McKisick was the perpetrator in a horrific murder-suicide.
