On December 28, 2022, Laurie Harden Jensen, a 66-year-old White female, was tragically killed in her Elroy, Wisconsin home. The incident unfolded in the evening when the Juneau County Communications Center received a report of a possible domestic disturbance at her residence on County Highway O. The report indicated that a firearm was involved and that shots had been fired.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers discovered both Laurie and her 69-year-old husband, Gary Jensen,
deceased at the scene. The subsequent investigation determined that Laurie was the victim of a homicide. Gary Jensen's death was ruled a suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators concluded that the deaths were the result of a murder-suicide, and there were no other suspects involved in the incident. As the perpetrator was also deceased, no arrests were made in connection with Laurie's death. The authorities determined it was an isolated event and that there was no ongoing threat to the public.
Laurie was remembered as a cherished sister and aunt who had a dedicated career as an X-ray technician at Mile Bluff Medical Center Hospital in Mauston.
