Monique Williams, a 29-year-old Caucasian female, was found deceased in her Pasco, Washington, home on May 19, 2014. The tragic discovery was made after police were called to perform a welfare check at her residence located at 7912 Redonda Drive. Inside, authorities found Ms. Williams alongside her 36-year-old ex-boyfriend, Aaron J. Newport; both were dead.
Investigators quickly determined the incident to be a murder-suicide. Evidence suggested that Newport had forced his way into the home, possibly through a dog door, sometime during the morning of the preceding Saturday. A struggle appeared to have taken place in the master bedroom, where both individuals were found on a bed with single gunshot wounds to the head. A handgun and two shell casings were recovered from the scene. The Franklin County Prosecutor's office officially classified Ms. Williams' death as a domestic violence homicide. Authorities stated they were not searching for any other suspects in connection with the deaths.
Further investigation into Aaron Newport's background revealed a history of domestic violence. Court records showed a 2008 conviction for fourth-degree assault and first-degree criminal trespass related to an incident involving his ex-wife. Friends and family of Ms. Williams described her as a "beautiful person" and a dedicated nurse at Kadlec Regional Medical Center. She had recently ended her relationship with Newport, a breakup that he was reportedly struggling with. Her death left her family and friends devastated.
