In the quiet community of Bonney Lake, Washington, a devastating discovery was made on the evening of February 27, 2015. Inside their home on Rhododendron Drive East, 16-year-old female Julieanne Cieslikowski was found deceased in her bedroom. The grim scene was uncovered by her mother's boyfriend when he returned home from work.
Authorities investigating the tragic event soon pieced together the heartbreaking circumstances.
Evidence found at the home, including a note written by Julieanne's mother, 36-year-old Sarahlynne Cieslikowski, led detectives to conclude that the deaths were the result of a homicide-suicide. Investigators determined that Sarahlynne Cieslikowski shot her daughter before taking her own life.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed the identities of both mother and daughter. The contents of the note left by Sarahlynne were not publicly disclosed. In the aftermath of the tragedy, the Sumner School District, where Julieanne was a student at Bonney Lake High School, provided support services to grieving students, staff, and their families. As the perpetrator died at the scene, there were no arrests made in the case.
