In the late summer of 2016, the life of 45-year-old Caucasian male Daniel Kenison was brought to a tragic and violent end. On the morning of August 15th, in a home near 6th Avenue and South Michigan Street in Spokane Valley, Washington, Kenison and his sister, Brenda Kolbet, were fatally shot. The incident unfolded after Kolbet's estranged boyfriend, Gilberto Delgado, arrived at the residence.
An argument erupted between Kolbet and Delgado in the driveway.
The confrontation quickly escalated, with Delgado allegedly chasing Kolbet into the house where he shot her multiple times. Hearing the gunshots, Kenison, who had been in the shower, emerged to confront the attacker. He was shot once in the stomach. Both Daniel Kenison and Brenda Kolbet were pronounced dead at the scene.
A crucial witness to the horrifying events was Kolbet's young son. The child was in his mother's car in the driveway when Delgado arrived. After the shootings, the boy found his mother and uncle inside the home and used his uncle's phone to call 911, identifying Delgado as the assailant.
Following the incident, Gilberto Delgado fled the scene in a black car. An investigation was immediately launched, and law enforcement began a search for him. Delgado was later apprehended in Idaho. He was subsequently taken into custody to face charges related to the deaths of Daniel Kenison and Brenda Kolbet.
