In the small community of Mt. Victory, Kentucky, a violent encounter led to the death of Constable William Bolton. The male lawman was engaged in the duty of serving a warrant to two brothers alongside another constable. During the attempt to serve the warrant, the situation escalated dramatically when the two brothers opened fire on Constable Bolton, causing him injury.
