In the quiet community of Brandenburg, Kentucky, a tragic event unfolded on the morning of November 15, 2013, ending the life of 42-year-old Ellen Marie Cain. A female resident of the town, Cain, was found deceased in her home on Otter View Court. The grim discovery was made by a Meade County sheriff's deputy who had been dispatched to the residence to perform a welfare check.
The scene that awaited the deputy was a tragedy that would deeply affect the local community.
Further investigation revealed the deaths were the result of a double murder-suicide. Authorities determined that Ellen Cain and her 13-year-old son, Tucker Phillip Wimpee, were fatally shot by Cain's 50-year-old live-in boyfriend, Warren Earle Tripp. After taking the lives of Cain and her son, Tripp then turned the weapon on himself, concluding the violent episode.
