On a quiet evening in Beattyville, Kentucky, the life of 36-year-old Patricia Gail Creech Lutes came to a violent and sudden end. On November 10, 2014, a neighbor was startled by the sound of a gunshot around 6:30 p.m. Stepping outside, they discovered Patricia lying in the roadway near her mailbox on Highway 2016, the victim of an apparent gunshot wound.
