Carolyn Ann Tomlinson, a 28-year-old mother of three, was found dead on April 6, 2016, in an Elsmere, Kentucky, home. She had been fatally shot in what police investigated as a double homicide. At the time of her death, Tomlinson was working as a bookkeeper and Certified Nursing Assistant at Villaspring Health Care in Erlanger.
The investigation into the murders unfolded over several years, leading to a break in the case in December 2019.
A Kenton County grand jury indicted two men, Charles Elmer Eapmon and James Allen Eapmon, on charges of complicity to murder in the deaths of Carolyn Ann Tomlinson and Charles Douglas Eapmon.
Authorities stated that the killings were connected to a family drug dealing enterprise. It was clarified that Carolyn Ann Tomlinson herself was not believed to be involved in drug dealing. Investigators believe she was tragically killed because she was a witness to the murder of Charles Douglas Eapmon. The manner of their deaths was described as an execution-style shooting, with both victims having been shot in the head.
