Lexus Arianna Bell, a 21-year-old female, was fatally shot on August 21, 2016, during a home invasion at her apartment in Russellville, Kentucky. The incident occurred at the Robinwood Apartments on Highland Lick Road. At the time of the shooting, Bell was holding her one-year-old child. There were a total of eleven people in the two-bedroom apartment, including nine children who were there for a birthday party planned for the following day.
The man convicted of her murder, Demetrius
Roberson, entered the apartment with the intent to steal money, marijuana, and firearms. Authorities reported that Roberson threatened Bell before firing multiple shots. A total of 11 shots were fired during the home invasion. As he was leaving the apartment, Roberson also fired at another woman who was with her children.
In November 2021, a jury found Demetrius Roberson guilty of murder, attempted murder, first-degree robbery, and nine counts of first-degree wanton endangerment. In April 2022, he was formally sentenced to life in prison. He will not be eligible for parole for at least 25 years. While five individuals were ultimately convicted of crimes related to the robbery and homicide, Roberson was the only one to stand trial for the murder. His conviction and sentence were later affirmed by the Kentucky Supreme Court.
