On the evening of February 17, 2018, in Newport, Kentucky, a 24-year-old Black / African American man named Jonathan C. Hayward was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 10:22 p.m. inside a residence on the 300 block of Lindsey Street. Hayward sustained a gunshot wound and was transported to the University of Cincinnati Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
