Lois Elaine Henshaw, a 60-year-old female, passed away on November 9, 2020, at her home in Mount Vernon, Kentucky. Born in Bozeman, Montana, on April 27, 1960, she was known for her love of life and people. A hairdresser at Head Hunters Salon in Berea, she was a cherished member of the Trinity Full Gospel Church. She was a loving wife to her husband, George Russell Henshaw.
On the evening of her death, Kentucky State Police were called to her residence on Potter Road in the Scaffold Cane
community of Rockcastle County around 7:40 PM following a report of a shooting. A preliminary investigation revealed that a verbal altercation had been ongoing between Lois and her 42-year-old step-son, George Henshaw.
The argument escalated, leading to George Henshaw allegedly retrieving a firearm and discharging it, striking his step-mother. Lois Henshaw sustained fatal injuries from the gunshot and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Rockcastle County Coroner. Following the incident, George Henshaw was arrested and charged with Murder in the First Degree, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. He was subsequently lodged in the Rockcastle County Detention Center as the investigation by the Kentucky State Police continued.
