On the evening of December 27, 2012, 40-year-old African American male Nathaniel T. Jackson was fatally shot in the head while standing outside a convenience store located at Augusta Boulevard and Lavergne Avenue in Chicago's Austin neighborhood. The incident occurred around 9 p.m., and Jackson was transported to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead a few hours later.
