Garvin Whitmore, a 27-year-old Black man, was fatally shot on May 28, 2016, while stopped at a traffic light in Aurora, Illinois. Whitmore and his fiancée, Ashley Harrison, were traveling to Chicago to pick up a relative when an unidentified gunman approached their vehicle and shot Whitmore in the head. The attack was sudden and left Harrison in shock as she witnessed the tragic event unfold.
