In the quiet community of Oneida, Kentucky, the life of 32-year-old Lester Charles 'Chucky' Daniel came to a tragic and violent end. On a Sunday in late May 2021, events unfolded that would leave a family mourning and lead to a murder investigation. It was in the early morning hours that Kentucky State Police were called to a shooting incident on KY 1482.
According to the preliminary investigation, a verbal altercation had erupted between Daniel and another man, Jeffery Sean Sandlin, who was 33 years old at the time. The argument escalated dramatically when Sandlin allegedly retrieved a firearm and discharged it, striking Daniel. Emergency services arrived at the scene and transported Daniel to Manchester Advent Health Hospital. Despite their efforts, he succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced deceased by the Clay County Coroner.
In the wake of the shooting, law enforcement acted swiftly. Jeffery Sean Sandlin was taken into custody and charged with murder.
