In the summer of 2022, a tragedy unfolded in a Harlan, Kentucky community, forever altering the lives of a local family. On the evening of August 9th, 39-year-old Pheby Napier Cloud, a White/Caucasian female, was in her home on Johnathan Drive when her life was abruptly and violently cut short. A loving mother to her three children, Aliyah, Mitchell Jr., and Gracelynn Cloud, Pheby was known for her quiet and kind nature.
Born and raised in Harlan, Pheby was a graduate of Evarts High
School. She was remembered for her gentle spirit and her dedication to her family. At the time of her passing, she was employed at Sitting Pretty Pet Grooming in Evarts, a job that allowed her to express her compassionate side. Her friends and family recalled her passion for crafting and interior design, often using her creative talents to beautify her home and the homes of others.
The circumstances of her death were devastatingly clear to authorities who arrived at the scene. Kentucky State Police investigators determined that Pheby's husband, 39-year-old Mitchell Cloud, had shot his wife before turning the gun on himself in a horrific act of murder-suicide. Both were pronounced dead at their residence. The incident left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved Pheby, a woman described as having a tender heart and a compassionate soul. No other suspects were sought in connection with her death.
