James C. Daily, the Chief of Police in Red Wing, Minnesota, was mortally wounded on January 15, 1907, at the age of 43. Chief Daily was born on February 18, 1863, in Palmyra, Missouri, and moved to Red Wing with his parents during his childhood. He grew up in Red Wing, attended public schools, and later worked as a skilled plasterer in various cities, including Seattle and Butte, before returning to Red Wing.
