In the small city of Alexandria, Minnesota, a sense of unease settled over the community in the autumn of 2004. Mary Diane Johnson, a 42-year-old woman, died on October 28th of that year. Born Mary Diane Waldham on July 14, 1962, in Fergus Falls, she was a familiar face to many in the area, having graduated from Fergus Falls High School in 1980 and attended the local community college for a year.
