In the quiet town of Nodine, Minnesota, a tragic event unfolded on February 23, 2010, ending the life of 49-year-old Debrah Kay Williams Nederhiser. A female resident of the small community, she and her husband, Morgan Patrick Nederhiser, 47, had been married only since the previous September. Their life together was cut short in what authorities would later rule a murder-suicide.
Winona County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the couple's home after a minister contacted them,
having received a troubling email from someone at the residence. Inside, they discovered a grim scene. Both Debrah and Morgan Nederhiser were found deceased in their bedroom from gunshot wounds. The couple's three greyhound dogs had also been shot and killed.
The investigation that followed determined that Morgan Nederhiser had shot his wife three times in the head with a shotgun. He then turned the weapon on himself, sustaining at least two self-inflicted gunshot wounds. As the perpetrator, Morgan Nederhiser was the sole suspect in his wife's death. With the suspect also deceased, no arrests were made in the case. The contents of the email that led to the discovery of the bodies have not been publicly disclosed by officials.
