On April 8, 2011, a tragedy unfolded in a Brooklyn Park, Minnesota grocery store, ending the life of 20-year-old Abigail Fedeli, a White female. The setting was the employee break room of the Festival Foods where she worked. It was here that her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Aaron Parson, also an employee of the store, confronted her.
That evening, Abigail was in the break room with a coworker, 21-year-old Michael Habte, whom she had recently started dating.
Parson entered and opened fire, fatally wounding both Abigail and Michael. Abigail succumbed to a gunshot wound to the neck at the scene. Michael was rushed to a nearby hospital but ultimately died from his injuries. The motive for the shooting was believed to be jealousy stemming from Abigail and Parson's previous romantic relationship, which had ended about three months prior.
Following the shooting, Parson fled the scene. Law enforcement was able to track him to the Washington Avenue footbridge on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis using his cell phone. As officers approached him, Aaron Parson took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The incident left the community in shock. All three individuals were described as being in good standing with their employer. The company provided counseling services for the grieving employees. In the days that followed, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner officially identified Abigail Fedeli and confirmed the details of her death. Aaron Parson was officially named as the suspect in the double murder-suicide.
