On September 15, 2011, Cintia Guadalupe Ornelas Bustos, aged 28, was found dead in her home in Oakdale, MN. The tragic incident was part of a double murder-suicide that also claimed the lives of Angela Uscanga Gonzalez, 43, and Jamie Anival Almaras Velasquez, 32. The Ramsey County medical examiner determined that both Ornelas Bustos and Gonzalez died from gunshot wounds to the head, while Velasquez died by suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The police investigation revealed
that Velasquez was likely the shooter, although they initially refrained from making definitive statements. Velasquez and Ornelas Bustos had three children together, and it was reported that they had been married for eight years, although their legal marital status was not confirmed. The couple's 6-year-old daughter discovered the bodies upon returning home from school and ran outside screaming for help.
There were no signs of forced entry at the home, and a handgun along with spent ammunition was found at the scene. The police noted that the three individuals knew each other, and there was no indication that the killings were random acts. Velasquez had a history of domestic issues, including a previous arrest for domestic assault in 2008, although this incident did not involve either of the female victims in the 2011 case.
No arrests were made as Velasquez, the primary suspect, was deceased. The investigation concluded that the deaths were the result of a domestic dispute that escalated into violence. Friends and family described Velasquez as having struggled with a drinking problem, which he had reportedly overcome several months prior to the incident.
