In the quiet Minneapolis suburb of Robbinsdale, the life of 27-year-old Jennifer Michelle Smith, a White/Caucasian female, was tragically cut short on September 14, 2012. A mother of three, Jennifer was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and had made a home for herself and two of her children on Xenia Avenue. Her life, however, would end in a shocking act of violence that left the community reeling.

The harrowing discovery was made by Jennifer’s own five-year-old son. Finding his mother unresponsive, the young boy ran to a neighbor's house for help, telling them his mother wasn’t moving. Authorities were quickly called to the residence where they found Jennifer’s body, alongside that of 73-year-old Ronald Harry West of Brooklyn Park. According to a neighbor, West had been staying at Smith's home to protect her from a former boyfriend who had been causing her trouble.
