On June 10, 2013, 18-year-old April McDaniel was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois. The incident occurred in the 5700 block of South Sangamon Avenue, where she was struck in the throat while standing with a group of friends. McDaniel was one of several victims during a violent spree that day, and she succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.
