Carnesha Fort, aged 22, was fatally shot on June 6, 2014, in Chicago, Illinois. The incident took place late in the evening around 10:45 p.m. in her apartment located in the 100 block of North Keeler Avenue. During the shooting, Fort's two young children, aged eight and three, were also present in the apartment. This domestic shooting deeply affected her family and the community, leading to a trial and subsequent conviction of the perpetrator, who was a known associate of the family.
