Just after midnight on May 12, 2023, patrol officers in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood spotted a small fire climbing up the side of a house on the 6400 block of South Damen Avenue.
Once they were able to gain initial entry of the building, they forced their way toward the rear of the home, they discovered 32 year old Raquel A. Adams, a Black woman with a gunshot wound to the back of her head.
