On June 24, 2013, Sarah Kresilova, 24, was fatally stabbed by her roommate in their apartment in Chicago. The suspect, Mateusz Zabrzenski, fled the country shortly after the incident and was later extradited from Poland in 2019 to face charges. Kresilova was found with multiple stab wounds to the head, neck, chest, and abdomen.
