In the late afternoon of September 5, 2021, the life of 29-year-old Warren Jered Lee Joseph Beaulieu was tragically cut short by an act of violence in a home just north of Bemidji, Minnesota. A male, Beaulieu was found deceased by deputies and a DNR conservation officer when they arrived at the residence on Chockcherry Drive NE in Turtle River Township around 3:25 p.m.
An autopsy would later confirm that he had died from a gunshot wound, and his death was officially ruled a homicide.
The news of Beaulieu's death sent ripples of grief through his community. He was remembered as a loving father to five daughters and a man who would readily give a stranger the shirt off his back. His obituary painted a picture of a man who found joy in the outdoors, playing his guitar, and above all, being a father.
In the weeks that followed, the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension launched a joint investigation into the killing. Authorities appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the apprehension of those responsible, offering a $1,000 reward for tips that would result in an arrest. The plea for assistance suggested that the trail for investigators was growing cold.
While court documents indicated that investigators had identified a vehicle at the murder scene belonging to a man who was incarcerated on other charges, and they were interested in speaking with him and a woman who may have been with him, no arrests have been publicly announced in connection with Beaulieu's death. Investigators acknowledged they had a couple of persons of interest, but it appeared there was not enough evidence to move forward with charges.
