In a tragic turn of events on June 6, 2022, Sher Lashawn Antonio Frazier, a 23-year-old Black/African American male from Minneapolis, Minnesota, lost his life. The fatal incident unfolded in the nearby city of Coon Rapids, inside an apartment building located near 94th Avenue Northwest and Springbrook Drive, shortly before 5 p.m.
What began as an argument between three men escalated into a burst of gunfire. When first responders arrived at the chaotic scene, they discovered Frazier and another man, 21-year-old Elijah James Stangler, with critical injuries. Despite immediate life-saving efforts, Frazier was pronounced dead at the scene. Stangler was rushed to a local hospital but ultimately succumbed to his injuries as well.
A third individual involved in the altercation sustained only minor injuries. After receiving medical treatment, he was taken into custody by authorities. However, he was later released from custody pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation. To date, no arrests have been formally made in connection with the deaths of Sher Frazier and Elijah Stangler. The Anoka County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the circumstances that led to the deadly shooting, and further details about potential suspects or the nature of the initial argument have not been disclosed to the public.
