On August 28, 2013, 51-year-old Elvis L. Canfield was stabbed to death during an altercation in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago. The incident took place in the early hours on the 3900 block of West Division Street. According to reports, Canfield was attacked during a confrontation with Oliver Spann, the ex-boyfriend of Canfield's current partner. Spann, aged 27, was subsequently arrested and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Canfield’s death.
