On September 21, 2013, Jamal J. Coleman, a 22-year-old resident of Chicago, was fatally shot in a violent incident that occurred in the Near West Side neighborhood of the city. The shooting took place in the early morning hours, with police responding to reports of gunfire in the 1200 block of West Washburne Avenue.
