In the heart of Washington, D.C., the life of 57-year-old Charles Scott Berridge came to a sudden and tragic end on March 14, 2018. A resident of Falls Church, Virginia, and a White male, Mr. Berridge was found near the National Postal Museum, in the vicinity of Union Station. The events of that day unfolded around 1:30 p.m. in the first block of Massachusetts Avenue NE.
Authorities arriving at the scene discovered Mr. Berridge with a fatal gunshot wound.
A firearm was recovered at the location, and the investigation into his death pointed towards an apparent suicide. He was pronounced dead at the scene. While public records indicate that he had previously lived in an apartment building just a few blocks from where his life ended, the specific reasons behind his actions on that Wednesday afternoon remain undisclosed by officials. A memorial service was later held for him at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Washington, D.C., on March 22, 2018.
