In the early morning hours of Friday, May 13, 2022, the life of 18-year-old Anthony Arter was tragically cut short in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Northwest Washington, D.C. The male teenager was discovered on a Metro bus in the 3700 block of 14th Street, Northwest, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. The incident was reported to the Metropolitan Police Department at approximately 1:43 a.m.
Responding officers from the Fourth District found Mr. Arter in dire condition.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and quickly transported him to a nearby hospital in an attempt to save his life. Despite their efforts, Anthony Arter succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The Metropolitan Police Department's Homicide Branch is leading the investigation into his death, which has been ruled a homicide. Authorities have been actively seeking information from the public to help piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting. A reward of up to $25,000 has been offered for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this crime. As of now, the case remains unsolved, and no arrests have been made, nor have any suspects been publicly identified.
