On a late Sunday night in North Las Vegas, the life of 22-year-old Dre-Vaughn Deontae Dixon, a Black / African American male, was cut short in a tragic sequence of events that began with a plan to purchase marijuana. The evening of February 16, 2020, took a fatal turn when Dixon met with two individuals, 18-year-old Rodrigo Chavez and 19-year-old Blake Whittington, near the intersection of Hamilton Street and Putnam Avenue for the transaction.
