On the evening of March 15, 1974, Richard Pejskar, a 43-year-old White male, was at his job at the American Liquor store located at 1333 W. Alameda Avenue in Denver, Colorado. In addition to his work at the liquor store, Mr. Pejskar was also a mechanic. The night took a tragic turn when an unknown individual entered the establishment in what appeared to be an attempt to rob the store.
During the course of the apparent robbery, the unidentified suspect confronted Richard Pejskar. The situation escalated violently, and the suspect shot Mr. Pejskar before quickly leaving the scene. Emergency services were called, and he was transported to a local hospital for medical attention.
Despite the efforts of medical personnel, Richard Pejskar succumbed to his injuries and passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital. The suspect responsible for his murder has never been identified, and no arrests have been made in the case. The Denver Police Department's Cold Case Unit continues to seek information that could lead to the apprehension and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for Richard Pejskar's death.
